Accepted Answer

Garage Monkeyz says elevated cabinets help reduce exposure to some floor-level water and make the garage floor easier to clean.

Question 27

No. Elevation may reduce exposure during some shallow leaks, but it cannot guarantee protection from flooding, deep water, roof leaks, spray, prolonged moisture, or structural damage.

Capacity depends on the exact rack model, supporting wall and ceiling structure, mounting tracks, fasteners, down tubes, installation, clearances, condition, and load distribution.

Question 36

What items are best stored on overhead racks?

Accepted Answer

Garage Monkeyz recommends long-term or less frequently used belongings, such as bulky equipment and storage bins.

Question 37

Can overhead racks store seasonal belongings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Stable, properly packaged seasonal items are generally appropriate when they fit safely and remain within the approved load.

Question 38

What are Garage Monkeyz overhead racks made from?

Accepted Answer

The FAQ describes the overhead racks as powder-coated industrial-grade steel frames.

Question 39

Should hazardous chemicals be stored overhead?

Accepted Answer

Generally no. Flammable, corrosive, reactive, leaking, pressurized, toxic, or temperature-sensitive materials may require specialized lower-level storage that follows label and fire-safety requirements.

Question 40

How long does Garage Monkeyz floor installation take?

Accepted Answer

The FAQ states that Garage Monkeyz offers both one-day and two-day coating systems.

Question 41

Question 43

Does the flooring page allow items to remain in cabinets or wall shelving?

Accepted Answer

The FAQ describes epoxy as a coating that protects concrete and states that Garage Monkeyz offers polyaspartic/polyurea flooring formulated for its projects.

Question 45

Does Garage Monkeyz install epoxy flooring?

Accepted Answer

The site uses epoxy terminology in some navigation and legacy copy, but the FAQ states that Garage Monkeyz offers polyaspartic/polyurea garage flooring. The exact proposed coating system should be identified in writing.

Question 46

Can Garage Monkeyz floor coatings be slippery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The FAQ acknowledges that the coating can be slippery because it is impervious to liquids.

Question 47

How do decorative chips improve floor traction?

Accepted Answer

The full decorative-chip layer adds surface texture that can help reduce slipperiness compared with a smooth coating.

Question 48

Does chip texture make the floor slip-proof?

Accepted Answer

No. Water, oil, dust, soaps, chemicals, footwear, incline, and surface wear can still create slipping hazards.

Question 49

Can Garage Monkeyz add an anti-slip product?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A special anti-slip product can be added to the top coat for an additional charge.

Question 50

Is the anti-slip additive included in standard pricing?

Accepted Answer

The FAQ recommends power washing, bristle brooms, mops, a hose, or light pressure washing.

Accepted Answer

Yes, but the FAQ specifically recommends light pressure washing. Follow the installer’s maintenance guidance to avoid damaging coating edges, joints, or surrounding surfaces.

Question 53

Can oil and chemicals be wiped from the floor?

Accepted Answer

Garage Monkeyz says oil and chemical spills can be wiped up without staining under normal use. Spills should still be removed promptly, and chemical compatibility is not universal.

Question 54

Is the coating resistant to every chemical?

Accepted Answer

No. Resistance depends on the substance, concentration, exposure time, temperature, and coating condition. Follow the coating manufacturer's cleaning and chemical-exposure instructions.

Question 55

Are Garage Monkeyz flooring resins harmful?

Accepted Answer

The FAQ says no and explains that the products have high solids content, fewer solvents, and lower VOC emissions than cheaper kits. Installation and curing still require ventilation, safe handling, and compliance with product safety instructions.

Question 56

Do Garage Monkeyz coatings emit VOCs?

Accepted Answer

The FAQ says the high-solids products emit fewer solvents and fewer VOCs, not necessarily zero VOCs.

Question 57

Can Garage Monkeyz flooring scratch?

Accepted Answer

This FAQ says the coating will not scratch once fully installed. However, the dedicated flooring page warns that sharp objects dragged across the floor can scratch it. The more cautious interpretation is that the coating is highly scratch resistant but not indestructible.

Question 58

How should sharp objects be moved across the coated floor?

Accepted Answer

Lift sharp or heavy items or use suitable pads, wheels, or dollies rather than dragging them across the coating.
